Advanced Clinical Training in Neuromusculoskeletal Diagnosis

Gold Horizontal Line 60 x 4

Through an alliance with a leading University in the USA, CDI now offers a pathway for chiropractors in Australia and New Zealand to become board certified by the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (ACO).

All of CDI's live training Modules and online learning programs have now been recognised by the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (ACO) as board certification-level education. This means that all of your clinical training with CDI can be certified by the University of Bridgeport in the USA. In turn, this makes you eligible to sit the board examination to become a Diplomate (or Fellow) of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (DACO)*.
WHAT DOES DACO MEAN AND WHY BECOME BOARD CERTIFIED IN THE USA?
The DACO encompasses the core scope of chiropractic practice and helps to prepare you for the future of healthcare
The Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (ACO) (website) awards the DACO credential to chiropractors who demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. The DACO credential therefore positions you as an evidence-based chiropractor within the arena of neuromusculoskeletal healthcare.

Chronic neuromusculoskeletal pain and dysfunction are now the largest burden upon Western healthcare systems. Chiropractors are perfectly positioned to take up a key role in addressing the epidemic of chronic 'pain in the frame'. Board certification has become the standard for increasing the level of integration of chiropractors into mainstream healthcare facilities in the United States.
The DACO is becoming an increasingly recognised international credential
It is now a global world and the DACO credential is becoming more globally recognised. Chiropractors that are board certified by the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists are positioned around the world. In the USA, the DACO credential has become a requirement for chiropractors to take up clinical positions in federally qualified health centres, and also leadership positions in larger medical facilities. Indeed, board certified chiropractors are becoming the gatekeeper for non-surgical neuromusculoskeletal conditions in a growing number of federally qualified health centres in the USA.
The DACO credential provides evidence that:
1. You have completed 300 hours of advanced post-graduate clinical training in the diagnosis and evidence-based management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
2. You have completed training in advanced inter-professional communication skills and multi-disciplinary patient management.
3. You have passed a high-level board examination involving theory and case-based problem solving (OSCE) components.
*Currently there are no endorsements of registration, or specialist registration for chiropractors, that are recognised by the National Boards in Australia and New Zealand. Chiropractors should ensure that any representations made regarding further training or credentials comply with the Code of Conduct for Chiropractors and the Guidelines for Advertising Regulated Health Services, as provided by AHPRA and the Chiropractic Boards of Australia and New Zealand.

The Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists requires that at least 50 out of the 300 education hours must be obtained via face-to-face clinical training.

All six CTCP modules are required learning for the course. By attending all six live CTCP modules you will earn 81 education hours. The remaining 219 education hours can then be completed online via the following activities:

a. eLearning Episodes
b. Diagnostic Drills
c. Communication Drills

You must maintain a minimum GPA of 0.8 (80%) across all of the online education hours. Remember that your GPA is calculated based upon your first attempt at each of the multiple choice exams at the end of the learning activities. If your GPA is lower than 80% then you will need to undertake further training based upon a review by CDI.

CTCP modules (live training) that you have completed within the past TWO years will be recognised as education hours towards the 300-hour requirement. Formally accredited online learning hours that you have completed within the past TWO years will also be recognised - subject to a review of the learning activities by CDI (including aspects such as your GPA).

Education hours allocated as recognition of prior learning will appear in your Academic Transcript for board certification, and on your progress dial on your learner dashboard.
